THC Vapes

THC vapes are vaporizers, typically pen-like devices, that heat cannabis products containing the psychoactive compound THC. This produces an inhalable vapor instead of smoke, leading to a fast-acting high. They are popular for being discreet, convenient, and portable.
Types of THC vapes
There are two main types of vapes for THC consumption:
Vape cartridges
These are glass cylinders pre-filled with THC oil, which is a liquid cannabis concentrate.
  • How they work: They attach to a reusable, battery-powered vape pen. The battery heats an atomizer in the cartridge, which converts the oil into vapor.
  • Convenience: Cartridges are favored for their ease of use, as they require no grinding or preparation. They are often disposable once empty.
  • Dosage and effect: Since many cartridges are made from a single cannabis strain, they can provide a consistent and predictable experience.
Dry herb vaporizers
These devices use ground-up cannabis flower instead of oil.
  • How they work: A heating chamber in the device heats the flower to a specific temperature, vaporizing the cannabinoids and terpenes without burning the plant material.
  • Customization: Dry herb vaporizers offer more control over the experience. Adjusting the temperature can produce different effects and flavors.
  • Maintenance: They require more preparation than cartridges, including grinding the flower and regular cleaning of the chamber.
Effects and risks of THC vapes
Vaping THC provides a rapid onset of effects compared to edibles, as THC is absorbed directly into the bloodstream through the lungs.
Effects
  • Mental effects: Common effects include feeling happy, euphoric, and giggly. However, high doses can lead to paranoia, anxiety, or confusion.
  • Physical effects: Users may experience a dry mouth, red eyes, and an increased appetite (“the munchies”).
